About the Role

Protea Hotel Knysna Quays, part of the Marriott International family, is looking for an enthusiastic Operations Manager to assist the General Manager in overseeing the day-to-day Rooms Operations. Key Responsibilities

Rooms & Food and Beverage Operations

  • Assist in managing Front Desk, Housekeeping, and F&B departments.

  • Conduct quarterly operational audits and implement corrective actions to meet budget targets.

  • Monitor guest areas to ensure cleanliness and ambiance meet expectations.

Guest Experience

  • Drive a culture of excellence in service delivery.

  • Host daily stand-up meetings and coach staff on guest satisfaction goals.

  • Review guest feedback regularly and identify areas for improvement.

Sales & Marketing Support

  • Support local marketing strategies and participate in site visits and community events.

  • Collaborate with sales teams to promote hotel offerings and maintain visibility in the local market.

  • Monitor competitors’ offerings and recommend improvements.

Operational Oversight

  • Maintain building safety, cleanliness, and functionality.

  • Ensure profit margins without compromising quality.

  • Oversee emergency protocols and shift coverage scheduling.

Human Resources & Team Leadership

  • Hire, develop, and lead high-performing department managers.

  • Provide performance feedback, career development, and recognition.

  • Foster a collaborative and motivated team environment.


Candidate Profile

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Option 1: 2-year degree in Hospitality, Business Admin, or related field + 3 years of relevant experience.

  • Option 2: 4-year Bachelor’s degree in the same fields + 1 year of relevant experience.

  • Background in guest services, front desk, housekeeping, or hotel operations preferred.
