Job Overview

The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing all warehouse and supply chain operations at the Runway Park General Cargo facility. The role ensures service delivery aligns with BIL Standard Operating Procedures (QWI), maintains operational efficiency, safety, and compliance, and drives profitability. This role includes team leadership, client liaison, process optimization, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee receipt, storage, picking, and dispatch of client goods accurately and on time according to KPIs

• Ensure goods are managed professionally in compliance with BIL safety, quality, and profitability standards

• Lead, develop, and train warehouse and client staff to meet regulatory and operational requirements

• Manage fleet operations efficiently, ensuring adherence to all SHERQ requirements

• Liaise with clients and suppliers to maintain strong relationships and ensure service satisfaction

• Optimize operational processes to reduce costs and increase productivity

• Monitor warehouse compliance with dangerous goods handling, CHEPP processes, SARS regulations, and import/export standards

• Prepare and submit operational reports to Facility Manager and clients

• Implement performance management, employee relations, and training programs

Qualifications

Education & Experience

• Grade 12 (Matric)

• Diploma or equivalent in Logistics or Warehousing

• 3–5 years’ experience in warehouse management

• Experience managing teams under tight quality and efficiency parameters

• Knowledge of CHEPP processes, dangerous goods handling, and SARS bond stores

• Experience managing imports and exports

• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word

• Experience with quality systems, training staff, and performance management

Skills & Competencies

• Excellent customer service and bilingual communication skills in English

• Analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills

• Strong interpersonal skills for team and client relations

• Knowledge of process optimization, operational planning, and workflow improvement

• Computer literacy with MS Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook

• Time management, planning, and data analysis skills

• Inventory and warehouse management expertise

• Valid driver’s license
