Job Overview

  • Manage automotive logistics operations at the Silverton site.

  • Ensure contract adherence, operational performance, and customer satisfaction.

  • Lead and supervise teams of 50–100 employees across warehouse and logistics operations.

  • Ensure operations meet DSV operational standards, safety regulations, and client service level agreements (SLAs).

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and operational efficiency.


Key Responsibilities

Operations Management

  • Lead all Ford Silverton automotive logistics operations.

  • Manage inbound and outbound logistics processes.

  • Oversee warehouse processes and part supply through sequencing systems.

  • Investigate and resolve inventory variances and system transaction issues.

  • Ensure operations meet all customer service level agreements (SLAs).

Compliance and Quality

  • Ensure compliance with DSV safety, quality, and operational standards.

  • Maintain Quality Management Systems across operational sites.

  • Ensure adherence to maintenance schedules, safety regulations, and operational procedures.

  • Monitor operational activities to ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory standards.

Client Relationship Management

  • Maintain strong relationships with clients and operational stakeholders.

  • Ensure customer expectations are consistently met within agreed SLAs.

  • Address client concerns, operational issues, and service delivery challenges.

Commercial and Financial Performance

  • Investigate operational claims and incidents.

  • Analyse claim details and report findings internally.

  • Support financial performance monitoring and operational reporting.

Operational Performance and Improvement

  • Manage daily operational performance metrics and targets.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean methodologies.

  • Analyse delivery failures, damages, or complaints to determine root causes.

  • Implement corrective and preventative actions to improve performance.

Launch and Operational Readiness

  • Ensure operational readiness for new client programs or logistics launches.

  • Coordinate operational preparation including resources, systems, and workflow planning.

People Management

  • Manage a workforce of 50–100 operational employees.

  • Ensure team members have clear job descriptions and defined responsibilities.

  • Conduct performance management and development planning.

  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and skills development programs.

  • Ensure staff resources align with operational requirements and budget.

Stakeholder Communication

  • Coordinate internal meetings, operational reviews, and stakeholder discussions.

  • Communicate operational updates and performance reports to management and stakeholders.


Qualifications

Education

  • Matric (Grade 12).

  • Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics Management, or Industrial Engineering – Advantage.

Experience

  • 2–5+ years automotive material handling or line supply experience.

  • Experience in Automotive OEM or Tier-1 manufacturing environments.

  • 3–5 years supervisory or team leadership experience in warehouse operations.

  • Experience managing inbound logistics, outbound logistics, and warehouse processes.

  • Experience managing service delivery in line with SLAs and operational KPIs.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS EWM).

  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

  • Excellent leadership and people management skills.

  • Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis abilities.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced logistics environment.

  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.

Added Advantages

  • Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, or Theory of Constraints methodologies.

  • Experience with CMMS, Movis, SKS, SAP, or SMART systems.

  • Knowledge of supply streams including Sequential, Kanban, or Pick-to-Light systems.

  • Project management experience.
