Position Overview: Civil Engineering Lecturer (PL1)
Thekwini TVET College is seeking experienced and qualified individuals to apply for part-time Civil Engineering Lecturer positions at our Melbourne Campus. These roles are available for Trimester 2 & 3 and Semester 2 of the 2025 academic year. The lectures will be held during weekdays in the afternoon and on weekends.
As a Civil Engineering Lecturer, you will be expected to deliver engaging and effective teaching across various Civil Engineering subjects, ensuring students gain a strong understanding of both theoretical and practical applications. The ideal candidate will be passionate about teaching, learning, and professional development in the engineering field.
Key Responsibilities:
- ✔️ Teaching & Learning Delivery: Provide high-quality instruction and engage students in practical and theoretical lessons on Civil Engineering topics.
- ✔️ Assessing Student Progress: Evaluate student performance through assessments, quizzes, and assignments.
- ✔️ Student Attendance Monitoring: Track attendance and progress, ensuring students meet the academic requirements.
- ✔️ Classroom Environment: Create a positive and conducive learning environment for all students.
- ✔️ Invigilation: Assist in invigilation duties for exams and practical assessments.
- ✔️ Student Feedback: Provide constructive feedback to students about their performance, helping them improve and excel.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- ✔️ Matric or Equivalent
- ✔️ Relevant Tertiary Qualification in Civil Engineering (REQV 13)
- ✔️ Advanced Teaching Diploma in TVET or Post Graduate Diploma TVET or Diploma in Secondary/Higher Education
- ✔️ Valid SACE Registration (not provisional registration)
- ✔️ Teaching Experience is advantageous
- ✔️ Strong knowledge in Civil Engineering subjects, including:
- Building Science (N3)
- Building & Civil Technology (N3)
- Building Drawing (N3)
- Building Administration (N4-N6)
- Building & Structural Surveying (N4-N6)
- Building & Structural Construction (N4-N6)
- Quantity Surveying (N4-N6)
- ✔️ Computer Literacy (MS Office)
- ✔️ Ability to teach fully online using the College LMS and MS Teams
- ✔️ Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- ✔️ Passion for teaching and learning
Hours & Salary:
- ✔️ N1-N3 Levels: A maximum of 60 hours per trimester
- ✔️ N4-N6 Levels: A maximum of 66 hours per trimester
- ✔️ Hourly Rate:
- N1-N3: R238.88 per hour (total cost)
- N4-N6: R282.89 per hour (total cost)
