Role Overview

As a Payroll Intern, you will support the payroll team with key administrative and operational tasks. This role offers exposure to end-to-end payroll processing, employee record management, statutory compliance, and payroll data reconciliation. You will work closely with experienced professionals, gaining valuable insight into payroll software and processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with payroll transactions including timesheets, direct deposits, commissions, pensions, bonuses, and allowances.

  • Input and verify payroll data, supporting accurate payroll processing using specialized software.

  • Respond to routine employee inquiries related to payroll.

  • Maintain and organize employee payroll records and documentation.

  • Provide general administrative support such as file organization and report preparation.

  • Participate in payroll reconciliations and compliance checks.

  • Support adhoc payroll and HR projects as required.

  • Gain exposure to payroll legislation including BCEA, MEIBC, and tax laws.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Relevant qualification or equivalent in Payroll.

  • Minimum 1-2 years experience in end-to-end payroll processing (internship or entry-level experience).

  • Experience with payroll software such as PaySpace (advantageous).

  • Familiarity with Workday (advantageous).

  • Advanced Excel skills essential.

  • Good understanding of payroll legislation and reconciliation processes.

  • Valid driver’s license and access to own vehicle is preferable.
