What You’ll Do

As Payroll Manager for the EM South region, you’ll oversee and manage all aspects of the payroll function for adidas South Africa. From system maintenance and compliance to stakeholder management and continuous improvement, you’ll ensure our payroll processes are efficient, secure, and aligned with global and local standards.


Key Responsibilities

Payroll Oversight

  • Manage end-to-end payroll processes for back-office and retail teams using SAP Payroll.

  • Coordinate payroll timelines with internal stakeholders.

  • Process retail hours and overtime via Eco-time system.

  • Run time evaluations, create and encrypt payment files.

Compliance & Reporting

  • Submit monthly reports: EMP201, UIF, WCA, GL accounts, and more.

  • Prepare and reconcile payroll journals, payment reports, and staff loans.

  • Handle third-party reconciliations and statutory submissions (including SARS, DoL).

  • Produce ad hoc and EE reporting as needed.

System Administration

  • Manage payroll systems in both test and production environments.

  • Implement and test annual SAP updates, tax tables, and employee benefit changes.

Audit & Risk Management

  • Ensure internal controls, governance, and compliance are maintained.

  • Address payroll discrepancies and take timely corrective action.

  • Support internal and external audit processes.

People & Process Leadership

  • Supervise and support the payroll team.

  • Drive standardisation and continuous improvement projects.

  • Assist in the creation and update of policies relating to payroll.


What You’ll Need to Succeed

Qualifications:

  • Relevant degree or certification in payroll, HR, or finance.

  • 5+ years of payroll experience, including 2+ years in a management or leadership role.

Skills & Competencies:

  • SAP Payroll expertise (non-negotiable).

  • Advanced Excel and computer literacy.

  • Excellent planning, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Ability to lead under pressure with a focus on accuracy and compliance.

  • High degree of confidentiality, integrity, and professionalism.
