Role Overview

Zutari seeks an experienced Primary Plant Substation Engineer to join our Transmission and Distribution team. You will play a critical role in designing high-voltage (HV) substations from initial concept through detailed design, supporting projects such as renewable plant grid connections and utility strengthening initiatives across voltages from 11 kV up to 400 kV.

Key Responsibilities

• Design transmission and distribution switching stations and substations (11 kV to 400 kV).

• Execute primary plant design including Single Line Diagrams (SLD), General Arrangements (GA), sections, earthing grids, lighting systems, CCTV, trench and conduit layouts.

• Compile Bills of Materials (BOM), technical reports, and engineering calculations.

• Interpret and apply electrical standards, developing calculation tools in Excel.

• Prepare primary plant equipment technical specifications and schedules.

• Demonstrate strong knowledge of substation equipment such as busbars, clamps, cables, conductors, and hardware for voltages up to 765 kV.

• Assist with basic project management activities.

• (Advantageous) Perform lightning protection design using CDEGS and 3D modeling with SES Shield.

• (Advantageous) Conduct EMF calculations and modeling in CDEGS.

• (Advantageous) Lighting design experience using Relux or Dialux software.

• (Advantageous) Earthing design using CDEGS and soil modeling tools.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• B.Eng, B.Sc, or B.Tech in Electrical Engineering.

• Minimum 5 years of relevant substation primary plant design experience, ideally with systems of 132 kV and above.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.

• Basic skills in MicroStation or AutoCAD.

• Understanding of electrical engineering principles and standards.

• Strong communication skills; proficiency in additional languages is a plus due to multi-regional teamwork.
