About the Role
As a Product Data Engineer at Capitec, you will be responsible for contributing to the design, development, and enhancement of new applications and systems that support the product line environment. Your role will involve:
- System and Data Analysis: Analyze business or system requirements to gain a deeper understanding of the product line environment and ensure the systems meet business needs.
- Solution Design Documentation: Participate in creating solution design documentation, collaborating with architects to develop designs for both new and existing products and systems.
- Mentorship: Lead and mentor junior team members, guiding them through best practices and ensuring quality assurance of their work.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, ensuring seamless integration of systems to support business operations.
Ideal Candidate Profile
✔ Minimum Experience:
- At least 6 years of proven experience in management information systems (MIS), data warehousing, data transformation information systems, or systems analysis.
- Proven expertise in relational data warehousing (SQL Server, Oracle, etc.), ETL processes, and orchestration tools.
- Experience in testing methodologies, mentoring junior staff, and quality assurance practices.
✔ Ideal Experience:
- Hands-on experience working in a cloud environment, specifically AWS technologies.
- Familiarity with data modelling, data analysis, and orchestration technologies.
- Experience in cloud data warehousing and using AWS services to manage data.
✔ Education:
- Minimum: A relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology or Data Analysis.
- Preferred: A degree in Data Engineering, along with certifications in Data Warehousing.

✔ Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of IT systems development processes (SDLC), ETL, dimensional modelling, and cloud data warehousing.
✔ Leadership: Proven ability to mentor and guide teams, ensuring high-quality output.
✔ Problem-Solving: Ability to resolve complex system and data challenges, optimizing processes for better performance.
✔ Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical teams.
✔ Analytical Thinking: Strong analytical skills with a focus on data and systems analysis to support business objectives.
