Job Overview

The Product Support Supervisor is responsible for coordinating and supervising technical support activities performed by Product Technicians. The role focuses on ensuring the efficient delivery of field support, repairs, commissioning, testing, and inspections for specialised technology equipment used in mining and diamond recovery operations.

The position also supports operational efficiency by managing repair quotations, customer queries, procurement processes, and technical service reporting while ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and operational reliability.


Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate daily activities of Product Technicians within the technical support discipline

  • Monitor on-site technical support services including equipment repairs, inspections, testing, and commissioning

  • Provide technical support to client operations locally through direct engagement and problem resolution

  • Develop and implement solutions to operational challenges within the technology support infrastructure

  • Coordinate day-to-day support activities and delegate responsibilities to team members

  • Ensure high-quality service delivery and maintain strong client relationships

  • Prepare and issue repair quotations ensuring correct pricing and recoverable costs are captured

  • Monitor and progress customer purchase orders and service requests

  • Ensure inspection reports are completed and delivered within agreed timelines

  • Manage inspection schedules and communicate updates with customers

  • Respond to customer enquiries regarding equipment availability, service schedules, and lead times

  • Report monthly financial and operational figures to management

  • Source and procure components, materials, and consumables required for technical support

  • Maintain a reliable and sustainable supply network of vendors

  • Resolve supplier quality or supply issues when they arise

  • Manage stock reservations and receipt of repair-related components

  • Capture personnel time, material costs, and process invoices related to service delivery


Qualifications

Education

  • Minimum Engineering or Scientific Diploma

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in technical customer service or commercial support

  • Experience supporting C&I or electromechanical products

  • Experience working with ERP systems, particularly SAP

  • Proven experience working directly with customers in a technical environment

Skills

  • Strong supervisory, scheduling, and operational coordination abilities

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, client-driven environment

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills across multiple organisational levels

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • High attention to detail and organisational skills

  • Strong customer relationship management capability

  • Basic mechanical aptitude

  • Advanced electronic repair knowledge

  • Intermediate computer hardware and software knowledge

  • Knowledge of diamond sorting and recovery technology systems
