🎓 Learnership Overview – Production Learnership 2026

ArcelorMittal South Africa is offering Production Learnership opportunities to unemployed individuals who hold a Grade 12 qualification and are eager to build a technical career in the steel manufacturing industry.

Successful applicants will enter into a 36-month Learner’s Agreement, where they will be trained as Process Operators at the Vanderbijlpark facility. The programme follows a structured, outcome-based training model, combining formal institutional learning with practical, on-the-job training in a real manufacturing environment.

This learnership is designed to develop technical competence, operational discipline, and workplace readiness within a heavy industrial setting.

🛠️ Key Responsibilities & Training Exposure

During the learnership, learners will:

• Receive structured theoretical training related to steel production processes

• Participate in supervised on-the-job training within operational departments

• Learn how to operate and monitor production equipment safely and efficiently

• Apply safety, quality, and environmental standards in a manufacturing plant

• Undergo regular assessments and performance evaluations

• Develop workplace discipline, teamwork, and technical problem-solving skills

Permanent employment after completion is not guaranteed.

🎁 What the Learnership Covers

The learnership bursary includes:

• Payment of approved institutional training costs

• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

• Learner allowance (market related)

• Personal insurance cover

• Structured mentorship and progress monitoring

✅ Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:

• Completed Grade 12 (Matric) qualification

• Minimum subject results:

  • English: 45%

  • Mathematics: 40% or Mathematics Literacy: 50%

• South African citizen

• Preferably under the age of 35

• Medically fit (medical examination required)
