Job Overview
The Production Supervisor will oversee a production shift team responsible for manufacturing confectionery products at the Mister Sweet plant in Wadeville.
This role ensures that production targets are achieved on time, in full, and within quality specifications, while maintaining efficiency, cost control, and compliance with safety and food standards.
The position also focuses on team leadership, production monitoring, continuous improvement, and collaboration with maintenance and quality departments.
Key Responsibilities
⚙ Production Operations

Supervise shift production teams to manufacture confectionery products according to the production plan.

Ensure production is delivered on time, in full, and within quality specifications.

Coordinate with supply chain teams to maintain smooth production flow.

Monitor work-in-progress (WIP) and daily production activities.
🛠 Equipment & Maintenance Support

Coordinate autonomous maintenance and housekeeping activities during shifts.
-
Identify equipment faults and report them to the maintenance department.

Assist in root cause analysis and corrective action processes.
📊 Process Monitoring & Reporting

Record production KPIs and operational data during shifts.

Provide accurate shift handover reports to the Production Manager.

Ensure all production documentation and traceability records are completed according to SOPs.
👥 Team Leadership

Manage shift staffing levels and handle leave planning and absenteeism.

Provide coaching, guidance, and on-the-job training for team members.

Conduct INVOCOM meetings and ensure action plans are implemented.
🧼 Quality, Safety & Compliance

Ensure compliance with food safety, health, and safety regulations.

Promote a strong quality culture within production teams.

Collaborate with the quality control department on non-conforming products and customer complaints.
📈 Continuous Improvement

Drive improvements in production processes and efficiencies.

Monitor production performance and suggest operational improvements.

Collaborate with other departments to maintain optimal production conditions.
Qualifications
🎓 Education
-
Grade 12 / Matric
💼 Experience
-
3–5 years FMCG plant production management experience (Essential)
🧠 Skills
-
Knowledge of confectionery production processes and quality standards

Strong supervisory and leadership skills

Understanding of raw materials and packaging quality requirements

Advanced knowledge of housekeeping and hygiene practices

Knowledge of food safety regulations and quality management systems

Basic knowledge of disciplinary and grievance procedures

Understanding of continuous improvement processes

Financial awareness for production planning and cost control (advantageous)
