🧾 JOB OVERVIEW

The Professional Nurse – Medical is responsible for delivering safe, comprehensive, and quality nursing care in line with Scope of Practice regulations.

The role includes leading and coordinating nursing teams while collaborating closely with a multi-professional healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

🛠️ KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

• Deliver quality nursing care in collaboration with a multi-professional team

• Identify, prevent, and manage risks to ensure patient safety

• Create a positive patient experience through a supportive care environment

• Maintain accurate and comprehensive nursing records

• Build and support a learning environment that develops staff competence

• Ensure accurate charting of all utilised stock and equipment

🎓 QUALIFICATIONS

Essential Education

• Diploma leading to registration as a General Nurse OR

• 4-year Nursing Diploma or Bachelor of Nursing

Desirable Education

• Postgraduate Advanced Diploma in Midwifery

• Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing (e.g. Critical Care, Emergency Care, Peri-operative Nursing) for placement in specialist units

💼 EXPERIENCE

• No minimum experience required

🧠 SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

• Basic Life Support (ACLS, ATLS, PALS required for specialised wards)

• Computer literacy (Microsoft Office)

• Nursing care planning and patient assessment

• Infection prevention and control

• Nursing processes, procedures, and record keeping

• Pharmacology knowledge

• Understanding of relevant nursing legislation

• Risk identification and scientific nursing principles
