Mediclinic Vereeniging is seeking a Professional Nurse – Critical Care to provide expert nursing care within a specialised unit. This role is critical in supporting high-dependency patients and collaborating with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure a safe, healing, and efficient care environment.

🩺 Key Responsibilities

• Provide quality, compassionate nursing care in a high-care or ICU environment.

• Work collaboratively with doctors and allied health professionals.

• Monitor and manage patient risks to promote optimal safety.

• Document nursing assessments, care plans, interventions, and outcomes thoroughly.

• Mentor junior staff and promote a continuous learning environment.

• Ensure all stock, materials, and equipment usage is accurately recorded and charged.

• Create a supportive environment for patients and their families.

🎓 Minimum Qualifications

• Essential: Diploma or Degree in General Nursing

• Desired: Midwifery; Postgraduate certificate/diploma in Critical Care or High Care

🏥 Required Experience

• Essential: Newly qualified nurses welcome

• Preferred: 1+ year post-graduate experience in a critical care setting

🧠 Skills and Knowledge

• Infection prevention and control practices

• Pharmacology and medication management

• Advanced patient assessment and critical care planning

• Accurate nursing record keeping

• Knowledge of nursing legislation and ethical standards

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office

• Basic Life Support (ACLS/ATLS/PALS) – essential for specialised units

• Ability to identify and manage clinical risks
