Overview
City of Johannesburg is seeking a dedicated Professional Nurse Region B to join our team. This role focuses on delivering essential immunisation services and comprehensive community healthcare. The successful candidate will be pivotal in managing health programmes, promoting health awareness, and ensuring quality patient care in a dynamic urban environment.
Minimum Requirements
✔️ Educational Qualifications:
• Matric Certificate (NQF Level 4)
• Diploma or Degree in General Nursing (NQF Level 6)
• Additional qualification in Midwifery, Community Health Services, or Psychiatric Nursing is an advantage
✔️ Professional Registration:
• Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC)
✔️ Experience:
• Minimum of 3 years post-registration experience as a Professional Nurse
✔️ Skills:
• Basic knowledge of interpersonal and customer relations
Primary Function
The role involves the provision of immunisations (including school-based programmes such as HPV, Tdap, and deworming), early detection and management of community health conditions, and health education initiatives. The nurse will work closely with community groups, stakeholders, and support partners to enhance public health outcomes.
Key Performance Areas
✔️ Immunisation & Treatment:
• Administer school-based immunisations (HPV, Tetanus Toxoid) and deworming treatments
• Provide health education to learners and parents on immunisation importance
✔️ Community Health & Awareness:
• Participate in the design and delivery of health awareness campaigns
• Conduct health assessments of learners according to established policies
✔️ Data & Record Management:
• Maintain accurate health records, including consent forms and immunisation data
• Compile data reports and monitor health trends to identify gaps in care
✔️ Collaboration & Engagement:
• Engage with community groups and stakeholders (Support Partners, Non-profits, etc.)
• Foster intersectoral collaboration at the clinic/regional level
✔️ Quality Assurance:
• Ensure compliance with administrative procedures
• Maintain high standards in the recording, reporting, and management of healthcare delivery
