Mediclinic, one of the leading private healthcare providers in Southern Africa, is currently seeking a Professional Nurse for their Specialised Adult ICU. As a Professional Nurse in the Adult ICU, your primary responsibility will be to provide safe, comprehensive, and quality nursing care according to your Scope of Practice. The role demands strong critical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Key Responsibilities:
✅ Deliver quality nursing care in collaboration with a multi-professional team.
✅ Identify, prevent, and manage risks to ensure patient safety.
✅ Facilitate a positive patient experience by maintaining a conducive environment.
✅ Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of all nursing interventions.
✅ Create a learning environment that enhances staff competence.
✅ Ensure accurate charging of stock and equipment utilized.
Required Education:
🎓 Essential: Degree/Diploma in General Nursing
🎓 Desired: Midwifery or Postgraduate certificate/diploma in relevant specialty area
Required Experience:
📝 Essential: No prior experience required
📝 Desired: 1 year post-graduate qualification experience before placement in a specialised unit
Skills & Knowledge:
✅ Infection prevention and control.
✅ Pharmacology and scientific nursing principles.
✅ Nursing record-keeping and patient assessment.
✅ Nursing processes, procedures, and computer literacy (Microsoft Office).
✅ Basic Life Support (ACLS, ATLS, PALS trained for specialised wards).
✅ Risk identification and patient care plan development.
