💼 Role Overview

The Proposal Engineer – Bulk Material Handling is responsible for developing accurate, complete, and commercially competitive proposals for engineered-to-order (ETO) project opportunities. You will collaborate with Global Market Areas, Sales, Product Line experts, and regional Proposal Engineers to produce value-driven proposals aligned with customer expectations and Metso’s commercial strategy.

This role sits within Metso’s global Commercial Support Team, ensuring a high-impact, collaborative work environment.


🛠️ Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

  • Creating timely and accurate ETO proposals for Grinding, Bulk Material Handling, and Pyro (GBP) technologies.

  • Developing competitive proposals for basic and complex ETO projects originating from Market Areas via Salesforce.

  • Handling proposals independently while supporting junior Proposal Engineers globally.

  • Integrating Win Plans and commercial strategies into each proposal.

  • Working with Technical Sales Support and Product Line teams to strengthen proposal content.

  • Requesting additional technical data from opportunity creators and stakeholders when needed.

  • Recommending and implementing improvements to proposal processes and documentation.

  • Standardizing workflows, templates, and pricing methodologies.

  • Ensuring compliance with internal governance and approval processes.

  • Maintaining cost models and pricing tools according to market benchmarks.

  • Tracking proposal outcomes in Salesforce and providing insights to improve win rates.

  • Supporting contract negotiation with technical and commercial input.

  • Participating in customer presentations, clarifications, and meetings.

  • Monitoring competitor offerings to strengthen proposal positioning.

  • Contributing to the training and mentoring of junior proposal engineers.

  • Working with procurement to confirm vendor quotes and delivery timelines.


🎯 Requirements

To qualify, you should have:

  • A Technical Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.

  • Strong understanding of bulk material handling systems and engineering assemblies.

  • Proven commercial acumen with experience in competitive proposal development.

  • Ability to multitask under pressure and meet strict deadlines.

  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.

  • High knowledge level of Grinding, Bulk Material Handling, and Pyro technologies.

  • Strong presentation, analysis, and report-writing abilities.

  • Ability to work both independently and in global teams.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

  • Ability to travel and perform site inspections, including climbing or navigating mechanical environments.

  • A valid driver’s license with a clean record.
