Job Overview

Seriti is seeking a skilled and disciplined Protection Officer (C2) to provide comprehensive security services at its Klipspruit Colliery. The role is responsible for protecting company assets, employees, contractors, visitors, and facilities, while ensuring the safety, effectiveness, and professionalism of security operations.

This position is ideal for an experienced security professional with strong leadership, operational oversight, and mining-industry exposure.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and ensure effective deployment of security personnel according to operational requirements

• Ensure security staff perform duties in line with approved standards, procedures, and legislation

• Ensure all security incidents are reported immediately and properly investigated

• Maintain ethical conduct and confidentiality of sensitive information

• Ensure effective functioning of all security areas, including:

  • Security control room

  • Armed response units

  • Drone operations

  • Access and egress control

  • Weighbridge operations

  • CCTV, alarms, and security infrastructure

• Conduct security parades and inspect guardhouses and equipment

• Promote professional communication within the security department

• Share operational updates, safety bulletins, inspection feedback, and risk assessments with security staff

Qualifications

Education

• Matric / Grade 12 or equivalent (NQF Level 4)

• National Advanced Certificate or equivalent (minimum 2 years)

Experience

• Minimum 3 years of uninterrupted service in Protection Services, Security, or a similar role

• Proven experience as a Security Officer within an operational environment

Skills & Competencies

• PSIRA registration (minimum Grade B)

• Valid firearm competency certificate

• Knowledge of CCTV, alarm systems, and security processes

• Understanding of relevant legislation, including:

  • Criminal Procedure Act

  • Security Officers Act

  • Law of Evidence

  • Mine Health and Safety Act

  • Labour Law

• Strong report-writing and computer literacy skills

• Valid driver’s licence

• Ability to manage teams and maintain professionalism under pressure

Advantageous Requirements

• Studying towards a Security-related National Diploma (NQF Level 7)

• Investigation experience

• Supervisory experience within the mining industry

• Safety Course S1 certification

• Strong understanding of security best practices and policies
