Job Description:

Emporium is seeking a Public Area Cleaning Supervisor to join our dynamic team in Polokwane, Limpopo, South Africa. As a key member of our team, you will oversee and manage cleaning operations in public spaces, ensuring cleanliness, hygiene, and safety standards are consistently maintained. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced individual with a strong background in cleaning or facilities management to take on a leadership role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervision & Leadership: Manage, coordinate, and supervise cleaning staff, assigning daily tasks and ensuring all shifts are adequately staffed.

  • Quality Control: Regularly inspect public areas to ensure cleanliness and hygiene meet established standards. Provide constructive feedback and training as needed.

  • Inventory Management: Monitor and maintain cleaning supplies and equipment, ensuring stock levels are adequate and equipment is in good working condition.

  • Safety Compliance: Ensure that all cleaning activities follow the required health and safety regulations, maintaining a safe work environment.

  • Reporting & Documentation: Document cleaning activities, incidents, and any maintenance needs. Report findings to management for follow-up actions.

  • Training & Development: Provide training to new cleaning staff on cleaning procedures and safety protocols, ensuring they are well-equipped to perform their duties.

  • Problem-Solving: Address any issues related to cleanliness and resolve complaints effectively, implementing solutions to improve service quality.

  • Communication: Liaise with other departments and external parties to coordinate efforts and ensure all cleaning requirements are met.

Skills & Competencies:

  • At least 3 to 5 years of experience in cleaning or facilities management.

  • Prior supervisory experience is a significant advantage.

  • Strong knowledge of cleaning techniques, hygiene standards, and safety practices.

  • Leadership skills: Proven ability to lead a team, manage schedules, and maintain high performance.

  • Attention to Detail: A keen eye for quality and the ability to ensure that all areas are maintained to the highest standards.

  • Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.

  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to quickly identify problems and come up with practical solutions.

  • Strong Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, essential for liaising with staff and management.

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, if required.

Qualifications:

  • Matric/Grade 12 as a minimum educational requirement.

  • Tertiary qualifications in facilities management, cleaning services, or a related field would be highly advantageous.

  • Previous experience in public area cleaning or hospitality is a plus.
