Key Purpose of the Role

As a Quality Controller, you will play a critical role in ensuring our products meet company and regulatory quality standards. You will be responsible for conducting analytical and microbiological quality control tests, managing data and documentation, identifying non-conformances, and supporting process improvements.

Key Responsibilities

As a Quality Controller, your duties will include:

• Conducting and documenting visual and physical quality control tests on finished products and packaging

• Inspecting raw materials to ensure input quality is aligned with standards

• Reporting and escalating non-conformances and negative quality trends

• Issuing detailed quality reports and maintaining up-to-date records for auditing

• Ensuring cleanliness and safety in the lab and working area in line with SHEQ policies

• Participating in continuous personal development and performance improvement

• Supporting proactive problem solving and quality optimization initiatives

Essential Skills & Knowledge

To succeed in this role, you should demonstrate strong analytical ability, sound judgement, and technical expertise in a manufacturing quality environment.

• Quality assurance methodologies and testing principles

• Microbiology and product-handling knowledge

• SHE (Safety, Health & Environmental) policies

• Basic statistical analysis for quality interpretation

• Manufacturing process understanding

Qualifications & Experience Required

• Matric with Mathematics and Science

• Three-year tertiary qualification in one of the following:

  • BSc Microbiology

  • National Diploma in Food Technology

  • National Diploma in Biotechnology

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in quality control within an FMCG environment

• Microbiology testing experience is essential
