🐄 About the Role
As a Rangeland Coordinator, you will be at the forefront of implementing the innovative Herding for Health (H4H) programme. This community-driven model merges livestock management with ecosystem restoration across 700,000 hectares of communal grazing lands in the Namakwa District.
You will ensure successful delivery of Conservation Agreements, work with communal farmers, support biodiversity and rangeland restoration, and manage data collection. This pivotal role blends environmental stewardship with rural economic development.
🌱 Key Responsibilities
🔹 Conservation Agreements

Co-design, negotiate, and implement Conservation Agreements with farmer organisations.

Guide signatories through biodiversity management and H4H practices.

Conduct regular check-ins and compliance verifications.
🔹 Technical Farmer Support
-
Train and support communal livestock farmers in sustainable livestock management.

Encourage adoption of climate-resilient breeds and improved farming infrastructure.

Assist in formalising governance structures and implementing farmer business plans.

🧭 Ideal Candidate Profile
✔️ Required Qualifications
-
2–4 years of experience in conservation/agricultural work with communal livestock farmers.
-
Experience in livestock handling and farming infrastructure (fences, water systems).

Proficiency in MS Office and basic GIS/data management.

Strong team and independent work capabilities.
-
Excellent report writing and presentation skills.

Fluent in both Afrikaans and English.

Valid driver’s license and ability to navigate rural terrain.
🎓 Preferred Qualifications

Diploma or degree in Agriculture, Environmental Science, or Conservation.

Experience with land restoration or agricultural value chain projects.

Understanding of nature-based solutions to climate change.
🌍 Working Conditions
