JOB OVERVIEW

The Receiving and Despatch Clerk ensures accurate stock handling, invoice processing, and timely despatch of goods. This role is critical for maintaining inventory accuracy, smooth stock flow, and efficient store operations.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Capture and record all stock received accurately

  • Receive, process, and forward invoices for payment

  • Verify quantities received against invoices and check stock quality

  • Query discrepancies with suppliers and follow up on adjustments

  • Issue return vouchers (GRV) and coordinate stock upliftment

  • Accurately price, label, and code stock received

  • Adjust system and sales floor stock for supplier increases

  • Notify department head of any variances in system prices or stock counts

  • Maintain tidy and organized storerooms

  • Ensure all stock is labelled before transferring to sales areas

  • Prepare GP and retail stock labels for deliveries during peak seasons

  • Record damaged, shopsoiled, customer, or returned goods accurately


QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • National Senior Certificate (NQF Level 4) – Essential

Experience

  • 2 to 4 years in administrative duties or stock control roles

  • Experience in stock handling, invoicing, or retail operations preferred

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong computer literacy

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy

  • Ability to maintain organized records and files

  • Strong communication and coordination skills

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
