Job Overview

The Records Clerk Intern will support the effective management of organisational records and information systems. This internship provides practical exposure to records administration, document control, digitisation, and legislative compliance within a regulated public sector environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain an organised records management system

  • Perform accurate data capturing and record updates

  • Maintain physical and electronic archives

  • Retrieve and file documents upon request

  • Maintain access logs and track file movements

  • Scan, upload, and digitise physical records

  • Process incoming and outgoing correspondence

  • Conduct routine file audits to ensure system integrity

  • Support compliance with records management legislation


Qualifications

Education

  • Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent

  • Degree or National Diploma in Records and Archives Management

Experience

  • No prior work experience required

Skills and Competencies

  • Knowledge of records management principles

  • Understanding of records and information processing

  • Familiarity with National Archives Act, POPIA, PAIA, and PAJA

  • Strong organisational, planning, and analytical skills

  • Good communication and customer service skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team
