Are you a passionate, qualified nurse dedicated to optimizing the health and well-being of residents? TotalCare is looking for a Residential Registered Nurse to provide high-quality care in our care centre. You will play a key role in supporting residents with daily living activities and ensuring their health through accurate monitoring and interventions.
Key Responsibilities:
🏥 Resident Health Management:

Conduct thorough admissions assessments and accurately record patient history.

Monitor vital signs such as blood pressure and glucose levels, ensuring immediate action when necessary.

Perform mouth and pressure care as needed and ensure the skin integrity of residents is checked daily.

Provide high-quality wound care and catheter control for residents with medical needs.
-
Administer oral, intramuscular, intravenous, subcutaneous medication, and oxygen therapy.

Prepare and manage medication orders and ensure medication stock levels are accurate and well-maintained.
💉 Medication and Stock Management:
-
Accurately record and administer medication, ensuring it is prescribed correctly.

Monitor and manage the emergency medical stock, ensuring it is regularly updated.

Check oxygen cylinder levels and report when replenishment is needed.
📝 Documentation and Reporting:
-
Complete daily reports including fluid balance and bowel action charts.
-
Maintain resident records, including admission and discharge notes, allergy forms, and medical aid status.

Conduct incident documentation and assist in follow-up to ensure optimal resident care.

Ensure handover of keys, alarms, and emergency phones at shift changes.
👨⚕️ Staff Management:

Ensure caregivers are performing back and pressure care and other essential tasks.

Supervise and support care staff, ensuring compliance with care standards and conducting in-service training.

Delegate tasks and monitor staff shifts to ensure quality care is provided consistently.
💬 Resident and Family Interaction:

Maintain open communication with residents’ families and visitors to ensure they are properly oriented and informed.

Be attentive to resident dietary requirements and ensure changes are communicated to relevant staff.
Requirements:
🎓 Qualifications:
-
Registered Nurse or Enrolled Nurse with SANC (South African Nursing Council) registration.
-
Previous experience in long-term care, especially in geriatric care, is an advantage.
📅 Shift Requirements:

Must be available to work 16 shifts per month, including both day and night shifts.
