Role Overview:

We are looking for a Residential Registered Nurse to join our dedicated healthcare team in Fourways, Gauteng. As part of your role, you will be responsible for optimizing resident health and well-being by assisting with activities of daily living. You will work under the supervision of a registered nurse to ensure the highest standards of care for residents in a long-term care facility. Key Performance Areas:

📝 Patient Assessment & Monitoring:

  • Take accurate patient histories and perform physical assessments upon resident admission.
  • Conduct special observations (e.g., blood pressure checks, physical assessments post-fall).
  • Assess acuity levels of residents and monitor glucose levels and skin integrity daily.
  • Perform mouth care, pressure care, and catheter control as necessary.
  • Administer and monitor medications (oral, IM, IV, subcutaneous) and ensure proper medication documentation.

💉 Medical Care & Procedures:

  • Administer oxygen therapy, nebulizations, and assist with wound care.
  • Perform cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) when required.
  • Accurately prepare blister packs and order medications.
  • Record and manage medical stock, ensuring accurate documentation of emergency stock levels.

👨‍⚕️ Staff Management:

  • Oversee the back and pressure care tasks carried out by the staff.
  • Monitor and ensure the completion of bowel action reports and fluid balance charts.
  • Conduct shift handovers, ensuring key equipment is transferred, and provide in-service training for care staff.
  • Complete staff attendance registers and delegation allocations for the following day.

🏥 Resident Management & Care:

  • Ensure residents’ dietary requirements and care needs are met and documented.
  • Complete admission and discharge forms accurately, ensuring all documentation is up to date.
  • Coordinate and oversee resident outings and family visits, ensuring a smooth experience for all involved.
  • Work closely with doctors to ensure their needs are met and provide required documentation.

Qualifications & Requirements:

🎓 Essential Qualifications:

  • Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as an Enrolled Nurse or Registered Nurse.
  • Experience in long-term care (i.e., geriatric care) is highly advantageous.

📅 Shift Requirements:

  • Willingness to work 16 shifts per month, including both day and night shifts.
