About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Residential Registered Nurse to join our team in Fourways, Sandton. In this vital role, you will ensure optimal resident health and well-being by providing nursing care and assisting with daily living activities. Working under the direct or indirect supervision of a registered nurse, you will perform various nursing acts and procedures, maintaining professional standards and delivering exceptional care to our residents.

Key Responsibilities

Resident Care & Nursing Duties:
✔ Patient Assessment & History: Take accurate patient history and conduct thorough physical assessments upon admission.
✔ Resident Monitoring: Monitor residents’ physical conditions, including blood pressure, glucose levels, skin integrity, and more.
✔ Medication Administration: Administer prescribed medications (oral, inhalation, intramuscular, intravenous, subcutaneous) and ensure correct dosage.
✔ Wound Care: Perform wound dressing changes, mouth care, pressure care, and catheter control as necessary.
✔ Emergency Response: Demonstrate basic CPR, administer oxygen, and manage nebulizations when required.
✔ Resident Records: Keep detailed records of residents’ health conditions, medication, and incident reports.

Staff Management & Coordination:
✔ Staff Supervision: Oversee caregivers, ensuring proper performance of tasks like back and pressure care, bowel actions, and fluid intake documentation.
✔ Shift Management: Ensure accurate attendance records and delegate responsibilities to team members as needed.
✔ Training & Support: Conduct in-service training for caregivers and support team development.

Resident Administration:
✔ Admission & Discharge: Complete necessary paperwork for resident transfers, discharges, and death registers.
✔ Personal Items Management: Perform checks on residents’ personal items, including dentures, hearing aids, and valuables.
✔ Family Communication: Communicate effectively with residents’ families and visitors, ensuring a smooth orientation and information sharing.
✔ Diet & Medical Needs: Stay informed of residents’ dietary requirements, medical aid status, and special needs, ensuring care plans are followed.

Requirements

✔ Education:

• Registered with SANC (South African Nursing Council) as an Enrolled Nurse or a Registered Nurse.

✔ Experience:

• Experience in long-term care or geriatric care is preferred.

✔ Shift Requirements:

• Availability for 16 shifts per month, including both day and night shifts.

✔ Other Requirements:

• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to work well under pressure.
• Compassionate and attentive to the needs of residents.
• Able to effectively manage and support a team.
