Job Overview
Capitec is seeking an experienced Risk Manager to provide expert second-line risk oversight across the organisation as part of the Enterprise Risk Management Framework.
This role is responsible for influencing key stakeholders, strengthening risk culture maturity, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving strategic risk mitigation initiatives that support informed decision-making and sustainable business performance.
The successful candidate will lead enterprise-wide risk initiatives, engage with regulators, and align tactical risk metrics with broader business strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide second-line oversight across all risk management activities
- Strengthen enterprise risk culture and governance maturity
- Lead strategic risk mitigation initiatives
- Oversee implementation of the Enterprise Risk Management Framework
- Influence senior stakeholders on risk decisions
- Ensure compliance with banking regulations and governance requirements
- Drive risk reporting, metrics, and performance alignment
- Lead regulatory liaison and engagement processes
- Develop and manage enterprise risk initiatives
- Support strategic decision-making through expert risk insights

Qualifications
Education
Minimum:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Risk and Compliance, Law, or related field
Preferred:
- Relevant postgraduate qualification in:
- Risk and Compliance
- Law
- Governance
- Enterprise Risk Management
Experience
- 10+ years’ risk management experience in a senior leadership role overseeing a large organisational unit, preferably in banking or financial services
OR
- Proven experience as a Risk Specialist in a leadership role
Additional required experience:
- Minimum 6 years’ industry experience
- Strong exposure to:

- Proven ability to influence stakeholders and drive objectives
