Job Overview
The Room Attendant is responsible for delivering exceptional housekeeping services that exceed guest expectations. This role focuses on maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and presentation across all guest rooms and assigned areas.
You will play a key role in shaping the guest experience by ensuring rooms are immaculate, well-stocked, and prepared according to luxury hospitality standards. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, service-driven, and passionate about hospitality excellence.
Key Responsibilities
🧹 Housekeeping & Cleaning
- Clean and maintain guest rooms according to luxury hotel standards
- Perform deep cleaning of rooms, balconies, and assigned areas
- Ensure rooms are fully prepared for arrivals and turn-down service
- Maintain cleanliness of trolleys, pantries, and service areas
🛏️ Room Preparation & Standards
- Replenish linens, amenities, and minibar items daily
- Ensure all in-room materials (directories, booklets, flyers) are updated and presentable
- Prepare site inspection rooms before daily deadlines
- Maintain strict adherence to cleaning and sanitisation SOPs
🧾 Operations & Reporting
- Report maintenance issues and follow up on repairs
- Notify relevant departments (e.g., room service) when required
- Manage assigned master key responsibly
- Report lost and found items in line with hotel procedures
👥 Teamwork & Guest Experience
- Deliver courteous, professional service to all guests
- Build positive working relationships across departments
- Support a team-oriented environment
- Participate in training and development programmes
⚠️ Health, Safety & Compliance
- Follow all health, safety, and hygiene regulations
- Use cleaning chemicals according to training and SOPs
- Participate in emergency drills and safety procedures
- Maintain high personal grooming and hygiene standards
Qualifications
🎓 Education
- Grade 12 / Matric (preferred but not always mandatory in hospitality roles)
💼 Experience
- Previous housekeeping or hospitality experience (advantageous)
🛠️ Skills
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Customer service orientation
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and move for extended periods
