Your Role & Responsibilities
As a Section Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation, maintenance, and safety of factory machinery and equipment. Your key responsibilities include:
🔹 Budgeting & Cost Control
✔ Investigate and propose improvements for plant, equipment, and building to accommodate new technologies and products.
✔ Analyze efficiency and output on a shift basis and implement corrective measures.
✔ Monitor and control expenditure within assigned budgets.
🔹 Planning & Maintenance
✔ Ensure all maintenance activities are conducted in line with schedules and engineering best practices.
✔ Oversee the execution of predictive maintenance for factory machinery and equipment.
✔ Maintain accurate records, including work orders, safety permits, and compliance documents.
🔹 Safety & Compliance
✔ Develop emergency response plans for breakdowns, fires, power failures, etc.
✔ Conduct and document safety checks in accordance with legal and company requirements.
✔ Ensure all engineering staff comply with Health & Safety regulations.
🔹 Installations & Process Optimization
✔ Ensure machinery and equipment function as per designed specifications and industry regulations (e.g., MOS Act, NOSA).
✔ Manage spare parts inventory to minimize downtime and ensure rapid repairs.
✔ Assist the Factory Engineer in coordinating approved installations and upgrades.
🔹 Team Leadership & Training
✔ Train and mentor apprentices, vocational students, and staff from other factories.
✔ Lead and manage direct reports, ensuring their development and performance align with company goals.
✔ Foster a culture of teamwork, continuous improvement, and technical excellence.
Requirements for Success
🔹 Educational Qualifications:
- Diploma/Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- GCC (Government Certificate of Competency) is advantageous or must be in progress.
🔹 Experience & Skills:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in Engineering, preferably in an FMCG environment.
- Strong computer literacy (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS Project knowledge essential).
- Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
