🧾 Job Overview

The Sector Specific Trainee Programme is a structured 12-month training initiative designed to develop a talent pipeline for key operational roles within Transnet Port Terminals. Trainees are placed according to academic background, career goals, and operational requirements. Preference is given to candidates residing in the Buffalo City Municipality.

🎯 Key Responsibilities

• Perform daily operational tasks as specified per equipment

• Handle commodities according to operational requirements

• Complete logbooks and report equipment defects

• Operate data terminals and terminal operating systems (Navis)

• Maintain work-related radio communication

• Monitor equipment performance and identify defects

• Report incidents, accidents, and daily operational occurrences

• Operate safety equipment such as fire extinguishers when required

• Adhere strictly to terminal safety policies and procedures

• Follow system instructions and acknowledge task completion

📚 Qualifications

Education:

• Grade 12 / Matric (Essential)

• TVET N6 in Logistics or Transport (Advantageous)

Experience:

• No prior experience required (training programme)

Skills & Competencies:

• Knowledge of terminal safety rules and regulations

• Basic understanding of cargo handling and equipment

• Good communication and literacy skills

• Defensive driving skills

• Hand-eye coordination and depth perception

• Planning, time management, and problem-solving skills

• Computer literacy

• Strong work ethic, punctuality, and safety awareness

• Team player with good judgement
