๐Ÿ”Ž About the Role

SAPS Academy Philippi is recruiting 16 Security Officers to safeguard academy facilities, ensure secure access control, protect state property, and support overall safety operations on site.
This position plays a critical role in maintaining a safe environment for trainees, visitors, and SAPS personnel by enforcing security protocols and compliance with national safety legislation.


๐Ÿ“Œ Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following:

  • Must demonstrate competency in security-related core functions

  • Fluent in at least two official languages, one of which must be English

  • South African Citizen with no criminal record or pending cases

  • Must undergo security screening, vetting, and fingerprint verification

  • Completed Grade 10 / Standard 8 / NQF Level 3

  • PSIRA Registration (minimum Grade C certificate or higher)

  • Not declared unfit to possess a firearm

  • Willing to undergo firearm competency training and maintain competency

  • Degree/Diploma in security services โ€“ added advantage

  • Relevant security-related courses โ€“ added advantage

  • Valid driverโ€™s license (light motor vehicle) โ€“ advantage

  • Willingness to work shifts, including extended or irregular hours


๐Ÿ“ Key Duties & Responsibilities

๐Ÿ” Access Control & Verification

  • Enforce access control as per the Control of Access to Public Premises and Vehicles Act, 1985

  • Conduct positive identification of employees, visitors, and contractors

  • Register and electronically search individuals where required

  • Confirm visitor appointments and arrange escorts as needed

๐Ÿ“‹ Admission & Visitor Management

  • Issue and retrieve visitor access cards

  • Maintain accurate visitor registers

  • Ensure compliance with security protocols before allowing entry

๐Ÿšจ Patrol & Surveillance

  • Patrol buildings, perimeters, and secured areas

  • Monitor and safeguard vehicles and equipment from a security perspective

  • Identify and report potential threats or irregularities

๐Ÿ›  Security Equipment Checks

  • Inspect security equipment and facilities

  • Report deficiencies to senior security personnel

  • Respond promptly to noted security concerns
