🧱 Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Engineer – Civil & Structural, you will:

• Deliver accurate structural design and load calculations for concrete, foundation, and steel structures.

• Interpret and apply engineering drawings, documentation, specifications, and scopes of work.

• Collaborate closely with drafters, vendors, and multidisciplinary teams to produce compliant drawing deliverables.

• Review project designs for structural compliance, constructability, and optimisation.

• Develop scopes of work and specifications aligned with industry codes and best practices.

• Conduct material take-offs and technical evaluations of vendor tenders.

• Review and distribute vendor-certified documentation for project interface coordination.

• Lead engineering documentation, including cost, scope, schedule, and quantity details.

• Provide peer reviews, manage consultants, and ensure external deliverables align with internal standards.

• Mentor engineers-in-training and support succession planning within the team.

• Travel occasionally as needed for project or client engagement.

🎓 Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent).

• 5+ years of industry experience, ideally in mineral processing, infrastructure, or EPCM sectors.

• ECSA registration as a Professional Engineer.

• Proven ability to lead large teams and work in fast-paced project environments.

• Proficiency in structural design software and high-level technical aptitude.

• Familiarity with South African and international engineering standards.

• Strong stakeholder management and vendor coordination skills.

• Excellent problem-solving, negotiation, and communication abilities.

• High professional ethics, attention to detail, and contract knowledge.

• Must be a South African Citizen or Permanent Resident based in Cape Town.
