Position Overview

thyssenkrupp is seeking a highly experienced Senior Control & Instrumentation (C&I) Engineer to join our dynamic C&I team in Johannesburg. This role requires a seasoned professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, with a strong background in control system design within the Oil & Gas sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Independently develop and execute control system designs including control narratives and documentation for control and shutdown systems.

• Design field instrumentation documentation such as data sheets, loop drawings, and bills of quantities.

• Create communication designs for control systems and data networks.

• Develop fire and gas system designs and associated documentation.

• Create and maintain P&IDs reflecting control and instrumentation elements.

• Review and approve designs from team members to ensure quality and compliance.

• Ensure all designs meet applicable SABS / IEC standards.

Candidate Profile

• Bachelor of Science (BSc) or Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.

• Professional Engineering registration with ECSA (Engineering Council of South Africa) is mandatory.

• Minimum 10 years of C&I design experience, with at least 6 years in the Oil & Gas industry.

• Strong knowledge and practical application of SABS and IEC standards.

• Ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-moving environment.

• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and team collaboration skills.
