Role Overview

As a Senior Cyber Incident Response Analyst, you will be at the forefront of threat detection, response, and proactive cybersecurity strategy. You’ll work with established frameworks and play a critical role in identifying, analyzing, and responding to sophisticated cyber incidents across client networks.

This is a remote position based in South Africa, with flexibility to be located in either Cape Town or Johannesburg, and occasional travel to client sites when required.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct in-depth cyber incident response and analysis across host and network layers

• Proactively hunt for adversaries within client environments

• Perform malware analysis and reverse engineering

• Carry out digital forensics investigations and threat intelligence services

• Recommend and assess incident response tools and technology

• Lead compromise assessments and prepare forensic reports

• Maintain and update Security Incident Response Plans (IRPs)

• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely resolution of incidents

Ideal Candidate Profile

Technical Skills:

• Host intrusion analysis (Windows/Unix systems)

• Network intrusion analysis and packet inspection

• Malware categorization and reverse engineering techniques

• Familiarity with tools used in containment, eradication, and recovery phases

• Strong knowledge of ITIL, ISO 27001, ISO 20000, SANS, PCI DSS frameworks

Professional Attributes:

• Strong customer-facing communication and empathy

• Ability to manage multiple incident cases concurrently

• High attention to detail with sound judgment under pressure

• Confident in escalating to senior or C-level stakeholders when required

• Collaborative mindset with process-improvement focus

Required Qualifications and Certifications

• SANS Certifications such as GSEC, GCIH, GCFE, GCFA, GNFA, GREM

• CREST Certifications in Incident Management or Intrusion Analysis

• CEH – Certified Ethical Hacker or equivalent ethical hacking qualifications

• Proven experience in real-world cyber breach handling
