About the Role
As a Senior Data Scientist at Capitec, you will be integral in shaping the bank’s AI strategy. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- AI and ML Strategy Development: Leverage advanced machine learning, deep learning, and AI techniques to create solutions for complex business challenges.
- Model Development and Optimization: Design, implement, and optimize predictive models, intelligent algorithms, and AI systems that uncover actionable insights.
- End-to-End Machine Learning Lifecycle: Manage the entire machine learning lifecycle, from data preprocessing and experimental design to deploying production-level models.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams and engage with stakeholders, including executive management, to align AI solutions with business goals.
- Mentorship: Guide and mentor junior data scientists, fostering a collaborative and growth-driven team culture.
Ideal Candidate
✔ Experience:
- A minimum of 6 years in a Senior Data Scientist role.
- Proven experience with AI/ML solutions and real-world applications.
- Expertise in deep learning, NLP, reinforcement learning, and time-series modeling.
- Strong experience in Python/R, relational/non-relational databases, and using deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow and PyTorch.
- Experience in stakeholder management, including presenting to executive-level management.
✔ Education:
- A Master’s degree or higher in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, or a related field.
✔ Technical Skills:
- Strong proficiency in machine learning, deep learning, and AI frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch).
- Familiarity with AWS, Azure, or GCP cloud platforms is an advantage.
- Github experience for version control.
