About the Role

As a Senior DC Engineer in Mechatronics, you will spearhead projects focused on the automation and control systems related to carton and parcel handling within our warehouses. Your role will involve designing, programming, and implementing cutting-edge automation solutions that enhance workflow, improve accuracy, and reduce operational costs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and execution of mechatronic projects involving carton and parcel movement systems.

• Develop and program PLCs, Python scripts, and data analytics tools to optimize warehouse processes.

• Manage contractor Request for Proposal (RFP) processes including vendor evaluation and contract negotiation.

• Oversee project installations, ensuring on-time delivery and compliance with quality and safety standards.

• Collaborate cross-functionally with logistics, IT, and operations teams to ensure smooth adoption and integration of new technologies.

• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot technical issues using your deep knowledge of industrial communication protocols like ProfiNet, ProfiBus, Ethernet/IP, and AS-Interface.

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechatronics Engineering or a closely related discipline.

• 3 to 5 years of proven experience in warehouse or logistics automation.

• Proficiency in PLC programming, Python, Linux systems, and network connectivity.

• Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Pyramid.

• Solid understanding of industrial electrical systems (including three-phase and single-phase power).

• Excellent problem-solving skills combined with creativity and a collaborative mindset.

• Strong communication skills with the ability to sell ideas and lead projects from concept through execution.

• High energy, positive attitude, and emotional intelligence to thrive in a team environment.

Preference will be given to candidates from designated groups as per the Employment Equity Act.
