Job Summary:
Iress is seeking a Senior Engineer – SLAMS/iLoan to join our dynamic team in Johannesburg. This role is crucial to our Financial Markets Business Segment, where you will be responsible for developing and maintaining high-performance, secure, and compliant software solutions. Your expertise will be integral in building trading, securities lending, and borrowing systems, with a focus on delivering scalable and reliable software solutions.
As a Senior Engineer, you will be expected to design and implement software solutions that meet business goals while adhering to regulatory standards and compliance. You will play a key role in enhancing system performance and ensuring system availability.
Key Responsibilities:
✔ Software Development & Design: Develop high-quality, scalable, and maintainable full-stack software solutions for financial markets applications.
✔ Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams to gather software requirements and align with business goals.
✔ Performance Optimization: Optimize APIs and service components to improve performance and reduce costs.
✔ System Monitoring: Ensure smooth deployment and operational continuity of production systems.
✔ Troubleshooting & Debugging: Lead efforts to resolve production issues and provide swift solutions.
✔ Testing & Quality Assurance: Implement unit tests, integration tests, and perform load testing to ensure software quality.
✔ Code Reviews & Mentorship: Conduct code reviews, ensuring adherence to best practices, and mentor junior engineers.
✔ Documentation: Document system architectures, deployment procedures, and technical specifications.
✔ Continuous Learning: Stay updated with the latest industry trends, tools, and best practices.
Required Qualifications:
🎓 Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
💼 Experience: At least 7 years of experience in software development, preferably within financial markets or regulatory-compliant systems.
🔧 Technical Skills:

Proficiency in .NET Core C#, Entity Framework Core, Docker

Experience with AWS Services (e.g., Amazon ECS, Lambda, IAM)

Proficient in front-end technologies: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React

Experience with RESTful APIs, RabbitMQ, and SQL databases

Familiarity with CI/CD pipeline tools like GitHub and Buildkite
Preferred Skills & Competencies:
🌐 Knowledge of Financial Market Protocols: Familiar with protocols like Market Data Feeds and SWIFT.
📈 Performance & Availability: Experience in optimizing system availability and performance under high loads.
🔒 Security & Compliance: Ensure adherence to financial regulations, security policies, and industry standards.
📋 Agile Methodology: Experience in agile environments with tools like Jira.
🎯 Leadership: Lead initiatives in software testing and troubleshooting while mentoring junior engineers.
