Job Overview

ZEISS is seeking a technically strong Senior Financial Accountant to lead financial reporting, IFRS compliance, tax submissions, audit coordination, and internal control frameworks within its South African operations.

This role requires a proactive CA(SA) professional capable of managing complex accounting matters, coordinating group reporting requirements, and ensuring full regulatory compliance in a high-performance environment.


Key Responsibilities

πŸ“Š Financial Reporting

  • Lead month-end and year-end close processes.

  • Prepare Annual Financial Statements (AFS).

  • Ensure IFRS compliance across all reporting.

  • Compile Board reporting packs and attend meetings when required.

  • Submit Group reporting packages (CORA and consolidation reports).

🧾 Tax Compliance

  • Prepare and submit income tax (provisional & final), VAT, and withholding tax returns.

  • Manage SARS queries and tax audits.

  • Coordinate transfer pricing documentation.

  • Monitor tax legislation changes and assess impact.

πŸ“˜ Technical Accounting

  • Assess complex IFRS accounting treatments.

  • Calculate provisions (ECL, warranty, inventory impairment).

  • Maintain and update accounting policies.

  • Support business units with technical accounting queries.

πŸ›‘ Internal Controls & Audit

  • Design and document financial reporting controls.

  • Coordinate control testing (including SOX if required).

  • Manage external audit processes and resolve findings.

  • Support special audits (BBBEE, regulatory, etc.).

πŸ‘₯ Team Support

  • Provide technical guidance to finance team members.

  • Cross-train colleagues to ensure continuity.

  • Support budgeting and forecasting initiatives.


Qualifications

πŸŽ“ Education

  • Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)) qualification (Required).

πŸ’Ό Experience

  • 2–5 years post-qualification experience.

  • Strong IFRS technical accounting background.

  • Experience preparing statutory financial statements.

  • Tax compliance experience (Income Tax, VAT, WHT).

  • External audit management experience.

  • SAP or similar ERP exposure.

Advantageous:

  • Multinational group reporting experience.

  • SOX compliance exposure.

  • Transfer pricing knowledge.

  • Healthcare, medical technology, or manufacturing sector experience.
