🏢 About the Role
The Senior Fire Engineer plays a critical role within the Fire Engineering Team, providing expert consultancy on fire safety, fire prevention, fire protection and life safety engineering. This role includes project leadership, technical design, authority liaison, and ensuring compliance with local and international fire safety codes.
You will collaborate with engineers, technicians, BIM modelers and external stakeholders to deliver advanced fire engineering solutions that meet regulatory, safety and performance requirements.
🧯 Key Responsibilities

Consulting, leading, and managing all fire safety engineering and system design aspects across assigned projects.

Developing comprehensive fire safety plans including evacuation layouts, firefighting equipment placement, fire-rated construction, and escape routes.

Applying advanced engineering tools such as hydraulic modelling, CFD analysis, evacuation modelling, etc.

Producing rational designs and detailed technical reports that deviate from prescriptive code solutions.

Supporting and mentoring junior engineers with technical queries and design challenges.

Attending client, architect, and project team meetings to provide technical fire engineering guidance.

Engaging with regulatory Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) for approvals, deviations, and occupancy certification.

Designing fire detection, sprinkler, gas suppression, and smoke control systems with the support of the BIM team.

Reviewing 2D and 3D BIM drawings for accuracy and compliance.

Preparing tender documentation, specifications, and technical adjudication reports.

Conducting site inspections, audits, and construction monitoring for compliance and quality.

Managing project finances: fee proposals, invoicing, budgets, and contract management.

Participating in revenue forecasting, resource planning, business development, and client engagement.

Promoting and upholding SHEQ standards and ensuring Zero Harm policies are followed.
🎓 Qualifications
-
BEng / BSc / BTech in Engineering (Fire, Mechanical, or related discipline).

Professional Registration with ECSA (Pr.Eng or Pr.Tech.Eng) – highly advantageous.

5–8 years’ experience in Fire Engineering.

Experience in consulting engineering environments preferred.

Valid Code B driver’s licence and own transport.

Willingness to travel nationally and internationally.

Data Centre fire engineering experience will be an added advantage.
