Are you a Linux and cloud expert passionate about robust infrastructure, innovation, and automation? FNZ, a global leader in end-to-end wealth management technology, is looking for a highly skilled Senior Infrastructure Engineer – Linux & Cloud Support to join their CIO department in Johannesburg.

In this role, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the availability, security, and performance of FNZ’s datacentres and cloud platforms—making a direct impact on how over 26 million people invest in their future.

Key Responsibilities

🌐 Infrastructure Design & Support

  • Design resilient, high-performance Linux and cloud environments (Azure/AWS).

  • Build, manage, and maintain server estates in virtualised environments.

  • Drive high availability and uptime across infrastructure platforms.

🔐 Security & Compliance

  • Enforce internal/external security protocols.

  • Implement and document security controls, risk assessments, and remediation strategies.

📊 Performance & Monitoring

  • Monitor system capacity, stability, and performance.

  • Implement improvements through hardware/software refreshes and automation tools like Terraform.

💾 Data Resilience & Backups

  • Ensure regular and secure data backups.

  • Support and document business continuity (BCP) and disaster recovery (DR) strategies.

🚀 Project Execution & Innovation

  • Deliver on infrastructure projects within deadlines and across multi-national teams.

  • Suggest cost-effective changes and optimizations in cloud architecture.

👥 Team Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing

  • Mentor junior team members and share technical insights.

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest tech trends and innovations.

Ideal Candidate Profile

Education & Certification

  • Degree in IT or equivalent industry certifications.

  • Preferred certifications: Linux (Red Hat), Azure, AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform.

Experience

  • Minimum 3–5 years managing Linux servers and cloud infrastructure (Azure/AWS).

  • Experience in virtualisation (VMware), scripting (Linux/Red Hat), and automated configuration tools.

  • Experience in large-scale deployments and enterprise-level IT support.

Skills

  • Strong technical problem-solving and troubleshooting.

  • Excellent communication and project execution skills.

  • Proven ability to work in fast-paced, matrixed, high-performance environments.
