The school is now recruiting a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Futures Studies to strengthen its teaching and research contributions in this niche and growing field.

🎯 Role Overview

You will contribute to shaping the future by delivering postgraduate education and conducting research that aligns with the Institute for Futures Research (IFR). The successful candidate will be deeply involved in thought leadership, teaching, and supervision within the Futures Studies domain.

📌 Key Responsibilities

• Teach assigned modules in Futures Studies across postgraduate programs and executive short courses

• Develop and enhance transformative learning experiences

• Produce scholarly research and publish in peer-reviewed journals or high-impact outlets

• Supervise postgraduate students

• Actively contribute to the Institute for Futures Research (IFR)

• Participate in the broader life of Stellenbosch University and SBS

• Engage in public scholarship and industry consulting

🎓 Minimum Requirements

For Lecturer Appointment:

• Master’s degree in a relevant field

• Demonstrated teaching experience or potential at the modular level

• Early involvement in research or engagement with private/public organisations

• Organisational and time management skills

• Commitment to impactful research

For Senior Lecturer Appointment:

• All lecturer-level requirements, plus:

• Proven experience in postgraduate teaching, assessment, and support

• Experience designing academic module content

• At least one peer-reviewed publication (subsidy-bearing)

• Completed supervision of postgraduate research

🏆 Recommendations

Candidates with the following credentials will have an advantage:

• PhD in Futures Studies

• Leadership or consulting experience in the Futures field

• Experience writing consulting reports

• Global professional networks in Futures Studies

• Previous work with a business school of international stature
