💼 Key Responsibilities
As Senior Legal Advisor, you will:

Draft, review, and approve a wide range of commercial contracts and agreements.

Provide expert legal advice and opinions on commercial legal matters impacting the business.

Monitor and advise on new legislative developments affecting Truworths in South Africa and the UK.

Interpret and apply key laws such as:
-
National Credit Act (NCA)
-
Consumer Protection Act (CPA)
-
Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA)
-
Financial Intelligence Centre Act (FICA)
-
Tax and consumer legislation
-
-
Guide and support dispute resolution and litigation: assess cases, liaise with internal stakeholders and attorneys, and manage case progression through court when necessary.

Lead Mergers & Acquisitions legal functions, including due diligence processes.

Oversee trademark, copyright, and design matters.

Manage restraint of trade enforcement where applicable.

Take ownership of regulatory and compliance frameworks across the business.
🎓 Qualifications and Experience
-
LLB Degree from a recognized institution
-
Admitted Attorney in South Africa
-
Minimum of 10 years post-articles experience in a corporate/commercial legal environment
-
In-depth experience in contract law, commercial transactions, and regulatory compliance
-
Advanced knowledge of NCA, CPA, POPIA, FICA (Tax Law knowledge is a bonus)
-
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
-
Managerial experience is preferred
