🛠 Role Overview

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in driving Technology Development projects aimed at enhancing and innovating marine mining systems. You’ll manage technical development activities, conceptualize new technologies, and support integration efforts — all while contributing to De Beers’ sustainability and innovation goals.

🔧 Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate Technology Development projects and activities

• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to improve existing mining systems and develop new ones

• Create, simulate, and evaluate engineering concepts and technical designs

• Use CAE/CAD tools, MS Excel simulations, and modelling for detailed development

• Document and present findings, maintaining knowledge-sharing databases

• Support system commissioning, integration, and operational readiness

• Participate in cost-saving initiatives and ensure financial discipline

• Travel offshore and go to sea as required

✅ Requirements

• BSc in Mechanical Engineering

• Minimum 8 years of engineering experience

• Extensive simulation/CAE/CAD knowledge

• Skilled in CFD and/or DEM simulation software (advantageous)

• Solid theoretical and practical experience in fluid mechanics, terramechanics, or marine mining systems

• Strong MS Office proficiency

• Excellent report writing, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills

• Previous involvement in developing bespoke products or systems

• Ability to manage teams and collaborate across functions

• Must be willing to travel and work in offshore/marine environments
