Job Overview

The Senior Mining Engineer will join AMC’s Underground Mining team in Johannesburg and contribute to high-impact consulting projects for global mining clients.

The role involves delivering technical mining engineering assignments, supporting project managers, managing consulting engagements, and strengthening client relationships. The successful candidate will also contribute to business development activities and help expand AMC’s consulting portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

⛏ Technical Mining Consulting

Deliver underground mining engineering assignments to required specifications.
Conduct mine design, scheduling, and life-of-mine planning.
Provide technical support to operating mines.
Perform mining cost estimation and feasibility analysis.

📊 Project Delivery & Performance

Complete technical tasks within agreed timeframes and budgets.
Maintain accurate project documentation and reporting.
Support risk management, health, safety, and quality assurance standards.

🤝 Client & Business Development

Develop and maintain strong client relationships.
Promote AMC’s consulting services within the mining industry.
Generate and manage a portfolio of consulting assignments.

👥 Team Collaboration

Review and support colleagues’ technical work.
Participate in internal knowledge sharing and collaboration.
Contribute to a high-performing consulting team environment.

Qualifications

🎓 Education

Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Mining Engineering

💼 Experience

Minimum 10 years specialised mining engineering experience.
Experience in underground mine design and scheduling.
Proven experience supporting operating mines and mining projects.
Experience in life-of-mine planning and mining cost estimation.
Experience in consulting or professional services environments is advantageous.
