Job Overview

The Senior Mining Engineer will join AMC’s Underground Mining team in Cape Town, contributing to high-impact mining consulting projects across South Africa and globally.

In this role, you will deliver technical engineering assignments, support project managers on complex mining studies, and contribute to expanding AMC’s consulting services through client engagement and business development.

You will also play an important role in mine design, planning, scheduling, and mining cost estimation while ensuring projects meet quality, safety, and budget requirements.

Key Responsibilities

⛏ Technical Mining Engineering

Deliver underground mining engineering assignments to required standards.
Conduct mine design, scheduling, and production planning.
Provide technical support to operating mines and mining projects.
Perform life-of-mine planning and mining cost estimation.

📊 Project Delivery

Complete engineering tasks within established timeframes and budgets.
Ensure accurate documentation and reporting of project activities.
Adhere to AMC’s risk management, safety, and quality policies.

🤝 Client Engagement & Business Development

Build and maintain strong relationships with mining clients.
Promote AMC consulting services within the mining industry.
Generate and manage consulting assignments through industry networks.

👥 Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing

Review and support colleagues’ technical work.
Participate in internal knowledge-sharing initiatives.

Qualifications

🎓 Education

Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Mining Engineering

💼 Experience

Minimum 10 years of specialised mining engineering experience.
Proven experience in underground mine design and scheduling.
Experience providing engineering support to operating mines.
Background in life-of-mine planning and mining cost estimation.
Experience in consulting or professional services environments is advantageous.
