Job Summary:

Join Anglo American’s committed team as a Senior Professional Nurse – Occupational Health at our Rustenburg site. In this critical role, you will be responsible for providing high-quality occupational health care services to employees, ensuring their physical, psychological, and social well-being. You will also supervise and guide a team of nurses, ensuring compliance with all health protocols.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Daily Planning & Task Management: Organize and plan daily activities to ensure timely completion of tasks, meeting deadlines.
  • Medical Examinations: Conduct pre-placement, transfer, and exit medicals following established protocols.
  • Health Screenings: Perform periodic health checks to identify early signs of organ damage related to occupational exposure.
  • Intervention & Referrals: Identify medical concerns and initiate timely interventions or refer to appropriate healthcare functions.
  • Injury & Disease Reporting: Assist in reporting injuries on duty and occupational diseases while ensuring compliance with health surveillance procedures.
  • Medical Records: Maintain accurate and legally compliant medical records for all employees.
  • Support & Supervision: Offer support to employees with medical conditions affecting work ability and supervise other nurses in the Occupational Health Centre.
  • Inventory & Equipment Management: Order medical supplies and manage bookings and HR admin within the department.
  • Incident Investigations: Contribute to incident investigations and ensure compliance with health and safety standards.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 🎓 Minimum Education: Grade 12, Diploma/Degree in Nursing.
  • 🎓 Certifications: B.Tech Occupational Health Nursing, Registered with the South African Nursing Council.
  • 🏅 Experience: At least 5 years in Occupational Health Nursing, with prior experience in a mining environment essential.
  • 📝 Additional Certifications: Dispensing license (if applicable), Health Services Management certificate, and certificates in Audiometry, Spirometry, Vision, and VCT.
  • 🚗 Driver’s License

Skills & Knowledge:

  • 🛠️ Risk Management: Familiarity with operational processes and risk management techniques.
  • ⚖️ Compliance: Knowledge of relevant mining & labor legislation, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • 💼 Leadership: Ability to manage a team and maintain discipline in the department.
  • 🏥 Clinical Expertise: In-depth understanding of medical procedures and occupational health practices.
