Job Overview:
We are seeking a Senior Professional Nurse Occupational Health to join our dedicated team in Rustenburg. In this role, you will provide top-quality medical occupational nursing care, ensuring the well-being of our employees by focusing on their physical, psychological, and social health. You will also be responsible for managing and supervising nursing teams while overseeing the Occupational Health Centre (OHC).
Key Responsibilities:
✔️ Conduct daily planning of activities to ensure tasks are completed on time
✔️ Perform pre-placement and transfer medicals per health examination protocols
✔️ Provide baseline health status and assess fitness for duty
✔️ Conduct periodic health screenings for early detection of health risks
✔️ Identify and intervene promptly for any occupational health issues
✔️ Report and assist in managing injuries on duty and occupational diseases
✔️ Perform exit medicals to detect any occupational disease risks
✔️ Monitor and support employees with medical issues affecting work ability
✔️ Manage medical records, ensuring proper documentation and compliance
✔️ Ensure a well-stocked Occupational Health Centre (OHC)
✔️ Oversee human resource allocation and manage discipline within the department
✔️ Participate in audits and ensure adherence to occupational health standards
✔️ Collaborate with line management on health and safety matters
Qualifications:
✔️ Grade 12 certificate
✔️ Diploma or Degree in Nursing
✔️ B.Tech in Occupational Health Nursing (Registered with South African Nursing Council)
✔️ Dispensing License (if applicable)
✔️ Health Services Management Certificate or equivalent (Beneficial)
✔️ Certificates in Audiometry, Spirometry, Vision, and VCT
✔️ Driver’s License
Experience:
✔️ At least 5 years of experience in Occupational Health Nursing
✔️ Previous experience in a mining environment is essential
✔️ Knowledge of mining and labor legislation
Skills & Knowledge:
✔️ In-depth understanding of operational processes in the role
✔️ Proficiency in risk management and critical control measures
✔️ Familiarity with safety, health, environmental, and legislative requirements
✔️ Strong knowledge of health services compliance within a mining setting
