π― Role Purpose
The Senior Professional Nurse supports the Unit Manager to ensure a safe and positive patient experience by mitigating clinical risks, coordinating care delivery, and providing direct patient care. This role also includes mentoring new and student nurses, building staff competence, and supporting operational management within the unit.

π©Ί Patient Care & Safety

Deliver safe and comprehensive nursing care according to clinical standards

Mitigate clinical risks and ensure compliance with protocols

Develop and modify nursing care plans as required
π©ββοΈ Staff Mentorship & Development

Mentor and support new and student nurses

Empower staff through continuous assessment, guidance, and skills development

Support team competence in clinical and operational procedures
π Operational & Resource Management

Manage staffing resources to ensure optimal coverage and retention

Support effective management of operational expenses, including stock and capital

Maintain accurate nursing records and documentation
π Patient Experience

Facilitate a positive client experience and address patient concerns

Ensure infection prevention, patient safety, and adherence to nursing regulations
π Required Education
Essential:
-
Professional Nurse qualification
-
Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing for specialist units (e.g., Perioperative Nursing)

Pharmacology and patient assessment skills

Nursing processes, procedures, and record keeping

Computer literacy (Microsoft Office)

Relevant nursing legislation and scope of practice knowledge

Infection prevention and control

Mentorship experience

Basic Life Support (ACLS, ATLS, PALS for specialised wards)

Essential:

Minimum 3 yearsβ experience as a Professional Nurse in a hospital

Minimum 1 year experience in mentorship
