Are you a passionate and experienced Senior Registered Nurse looking to make a meaningful impact in patient care? NHS Orkney is seeking a dedicated professional to join the Inpatients 2 (IP2) ward at The Balfour. This role is ideal for nurses who thrive in a multidisciplinary acute care setting, delivering high-quality, patient-centred care in a supportive and collaborative environment.
The Inpatients 2 ward consists of:
- π₯ 17 rehabilitation and assessment beds.
- π₯ 4 integral Macmillan beds supported by specialist nurses.
- βοΈ Care for post-surgery, neurological, acute, medical, surgical, gynaecology, and orthopaedic admissions.
πͺ Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Registered Nurse, you will work closely with the Senior Charge Nurse to manage patient care and maintain high clinical standards. Your primary duties include:
β Clinical Leadership & Patient Care
- Deliver safe, effective, and patient-centred care within the healthcare team.
- Maintain and enhance standards of practice through continuous professional development.
- Ensure that all patients receive timely and equitable care tailored to their individual needs.
β Team & Resource Management
- Support and mentor junior nurses, ensuring a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Oversee department budgets, ensuring effective use of physical, human, and financial resources.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient care.
- Contribute to policy and guideline development to improve inpatient care services.
β Patient Experience & Organizational Goals
- Enhance the overall patient experience by fostering an open, transparent, and inclusive care approach.
- Uphold the ethos of IP2, empowering patients to take responsibility for their health and wellbeing.
- Support NHS Orkneyβs long-term healthcare objectives.
π¨ββοΈ Requirements & Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you must have:
- β First-level nursing qualification (NMC registered, relevant to the area).
- β Extensive post-registration experience in acute care (medical/surgical settings preferred).
- β Strong clinical leadership skills with a focus on mentoring and teamwork.
- β Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
- β A passion for nursing development, patient care, and service enhancement.
