About the Role:

As a Senior Software Engineer within Absa Digital Technology, you’ll be instrumental in shaping the future of the bank’s FX Digital Platform. You will design, develop, and maintain mission-critical applications built primarily in C# (.NET Core & .NET Framework) and work on an exciting AWS cloud migration. This is your chance to tackle complex engineering challenges, from ultra-low latency processing to building resilient, cloud-native architectures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, code, test, debug, and document software to meet business requirements.

  • Develop and maintain robust RESTful APIs and microservices.

  • Optimize CI/CD pipelines and manage Kubernetes-based deployments.

  • Collaborate within an Agile environment, participating in scrum ceremonies.

  • Analyze and resolve complex technical issues with innovative solutions.

  • Provide on-call support and ensure system stability.

  • Stay up to date with industry trends and apply new technologies.

What You’ll Work On:

  • High-volume, mission-critical applications that process millions of transactions daily.

  • Distributed computing challenges, real-time processing, and event-driven architectures.

  • A large-scale AWS migration to ensure scalability and resilience.

What We’re Looking For:

Experience:

  • 8+ years of software development experience.

  • Strong proficiency in RESTful API design and development (4+ years).

  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and Kubernetes (2+ years).

  • Proven track record in microservices architecture.

  • Proficient in C#, .NET Core, and OOP principles.

Technical Skills:

  • ORM frameworks (e.g., Entity Framework).

  • Solid understanding of SOLID principles and design patterns.

  • Exposure to Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and Test-Driven Development (TDD) is advantageous.

  • Proficiency in version control systems (e.g., Git).

Soft Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts.

  • A proactive, ownership-driven mindset.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
