Your Role at Impact.com
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will lead the delivery of complex engineering work — designing, building, testing, and deploying high-scale systems. You’ll work independently, support teammates, and guide architectural decisions. You’ll also partner closely with the Squad SSO to shape the product roadmap and ensure engineering excellence.
This role requires technical leadership, deep problem-solving ability, and strong experience across backend systems, cloud services, testing frameworks, and large-scale distributed environments.
Responsibilities

Collaborate with distributed teams to meet quarterly engineering objectives.

Design, build, test, and deploy software across complex, scalable systems.

Write and maintain design documents, technical specifications, and test documentation.

Participate in triage, debugging, and resolution of production issues.

Develop both customer-facing and internal features using well-structured code.

Create and review SQL scripts for technical updates.

Mentor junior and mid-level engineers to strengthen team capability.

Conduct thorough code reviews and approve pull requests.

Support CI/CD pipelines, release cycles, and environment stability.

Research emerging technologies and prototype solutions for future adoption.

Influence system-wide architecture and contribute to long-term engineering strategy.

Maintain high engineering standards through TDD, integration testing, and performance optimization.

Drive creative and technical improvements to increase application efficiency and reliability.
Qualifications
-
Relevant qualification in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
-
8+ years of engineering experience with Java (Java 8+), Spring, SQL, and distributed systems.

Strong knowledge of Hibernate/JPA, JDBC, REST/HTTP, CI tools (Jenkins/Bamboo), and build tools (Gradle/Maven).

Experience with NoSQL, data lakes, cloud platforms, and load balancing.

Ability to design and maintain scalable systems in production environments.

Experience with large-scale processing and Google Cloud (highly beneficial).

Strong understanding of JVM performance and garbage collection.

Exposure to frontend technologies is advantageous.

Ability to mentor, lead, and influence technical direction.

Experience owning large components and driving architectural improvements.
